AT THE SHIPYARDS

SHIP DESIGN

Dubrovsky V. A., Sokolov V. P. What ferry Saint-Petersburg — Helsinki is to be?
The authors consider variants of design solutions for high-speed types of vessels (principal hydrodynamic and structural design layout for Saint-Petersburg - Helsinki line; operation expenses and pay-back period of projects).

CATIA package, version 5: product lifecycle management (PLM) support
Translation of an article, dedicated to the prospects of application of CATIA system at shipyards, taken from «The Naval Architect» journal, issue 2001, June/August, and prepared by firm HetNet..

NAVAL SHIPBUILDING

Kovtun L. I. Modern information technologies in the processes of damage control management
The author considers practical suggestions of Krylov Central Research Institute for developing of hybrid intellect systems combining traditional methods of computational solution of ship control tasks, artificial intellect theory approaches and cognitive computer graphics.

SHIPBOARD POWER PLANTS

Bor S. M., Zalevsky Ya. P. Procedure for technical and economical evaluation of shipboard nuclear power plants
Procedure of technical and economic analysis of shipboard nuclear power plants (NPP) is considered. Classification of technical and economical, group and unitary, complex and integral indices of NPP quality is given. Complex indices of quality are determined with the use of various types of unitary indices convolutions. Reduced expenses during the whole lifecycle of NPP are recommended for usage as a complex economic index.

Bashurov B. P., Balyakin A. V. Statistical investigation of shipboard diesels auxiliary equipment serviceability
Results of expert-statistical investigation of equipment of oil, fuel and supercharging systems of shipboard diesels are given. Units of equipment with the lowest level of serviceability are revealed, some recommendations for increase of their functional reliability and operational efficiency are given.

Fayvisovitch A. V. Calculation of propeller’s blade residual life (kinematics of surface fatigue crack growth)
A procedure is proposed for forecast of kinematics of surface fatigue crack growth in propeller’s blade and residual life of the latter. Forecast results are compared with data on fractographic analysis of a broken-down blade and results of calculations made by other authors. Satisfactory convergence of these data is noted.

HULL GEAR AND ARRANGEMENTS

Ruban V. M., Blospheldt Yu. M. Mathematical simulation and calculation of operation parameters of heat exchangers in water cooling systems
The authors give complex of calculation formulas for description of mathematical model of heat exchange and heat transfer in shipboard water cooling systems and heat exchange apparatuses of house-tube type. Developed program for automatized heat calculation is described.

MARINE ELECTRICAL AND RADIO EQUIPMENT

Arutyunyan A. A., Baglay A. V., Genkin A. L., Temnov V. N. Nondestructive method of control of isolation technical condition and determination of shipboard cables residual life
The article considers a new procedure of nondestructive control of shipboard cables isolation technical condition. Comparison of strength and electric parameters of isolation is laid for the basis of developed method.

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND ECONOMICS

Vaysman I. L., Nikitenkov S. S., Perov N. A. Organization of building and delivery of fishing vessels at conditions of lease financing
The authors analyze the condition of fish fleet and propose actions for building at national shipyards of modern medium and small refrigerating trawlers on the basis of leasing. The scheme of financing for building and leasing of ships that provide benefits for lease receipting enterprises is developed.

SHIPBUILDING AND MARINE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES

Petrov A. A., Kobelev N. V., Kukushkin V. A., Vinichenko V. N., Ostrokopytov D. O. Practice of AutoCAD utilization at «Sevmash» enterprise
The article tells about development of specialized applications on the basis of AutoCAD at «Sevmash» enterprise (lofting, design of piping nets, etc.) that allowed to decrease the period of design and technologic preproduction and parts manufacturing itself, and to obtain economic effect.

Rozinov A. Ya., Yarygin O. V., Sinitsky V. A. New means and technology of local tightness control on the basis of computers
Main reasons of decrease in quality and reliability of acoustic tightness control are analyzed and new ways for salvation of this problem in working conditions are indicated. The authors give description of a new technology and a new device for its realization with the use of PC, and present the results of experimental evaluation and determination of economic efficiency of made developments in conditions of ship hull structures manufacture.
