JSC "SSTC" presented at JSC "Northern Shipyard" a new equipment set

On September 22, 2011 JSC Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Technology Center presented at JSC Northern Shipyard a new equipment set for mechanized assembly and robotized welding of micro panels, designed and manufactured in cooperation with IMG, Germany.

A specific feature of this equiment, distinguishing it from equiment of other OEMs, is employment of laser scanning and photogrammetry techniques fot generating robol controlling program. With this technique, one can quickly (in 7-10 minutes) identify in complex coordinate system all assembled micro panels, located randomly on the working plate, and generate a program controlling welding torch movement, including welding of vertical joints between micro panel frames.

The entire operation cycle of the equipent was presented, namely

- mechanized installation and tackling of framing on micro panel plates with framing positioning marks, applied by means of photogrammetry and laser scanning;

- generation of robot controlling program;

- robotized welding of framing to micro panel plate. Such equipment can be very effective in good hands, both in technical and economical aspects, as robot cannot get tired or demand lunch break. It can work two andthree shifts round, ensuring ideal quality strictly as per the requirements.

The presentation was attended b7y representatives from JSC Yantar, Yaroslavl Shipyard, Srednenevsky Shipyard, Admiralty Shipyards, JSC SevMash, RPA Energomashservice, JSC SP Pregol and Northern Shipyard.

Equipment, presented by JSC SSTC and IMG is an advanced multifunctional tool, allowing to implement various process solutions of technologists at a modern shipyard in regards of selection of welding sequence for micro panels.
