On 17 November 2004, presentation took place with the first medal named after Vladimir Poliyevktovich Kostenko.
The medal has been approved by our institute as an acknowledgement of distinguished services of Vladimir Poliyevktovich Kostenko in construction and development of production facilities in the sphere of domestic shipbuilding. 
The life and creative activity of this man has been a beneficial material for publication of book "Life and activity of V. P. Kostenko as a shipbuilder" (publicity "Tzitadel", 2000).

The 1904 graduate of  the Emperor Nicolas I Maritime engineering school, participant of the Tzusima’s battle, author of projects and participant of building the first-borns in the Soviet shipbuilding – the Amur shipyard and Severny machine-building plant, prisoner of St-Peter and Paul fortress and GULAG, knight of Saint Ann and Saint Stanislav orders, order of Red Banner of labor, the Stalin prize laureate, the 125th anniversary of whom we shall celebrate in 2006; V. P. Kostenko has worked for 25 years in the SSDI "Soyuzproectverf", incorporated as the DC "Soyuzproectverf" in the Institute nowadays. The first medal named after V. P. Kostenko has been presented to his daughter, Nataliya Vladimirovna Kostenko, as an acknowledgement of her services in keeping the archives of life and activity of this outstanding man which was an original gift for her birthday, on 22 November she will be 89 years of age.
