JSC "SSTC" took part in exhibition PHOTONICA. WORLD of LASERS and OPTICS-2015

JSC “SSTC” took part in anniversary dedicated exhibition “Photonica. World of Lasers and Optics-2015”, which was held from 16 to 19 March, 2015 at Expocenter, Moscow.

This exhibition was among the major events, held by UNESCO in 2015 within the frames of International year of light and light technologies.

JSC “SSTC”, as a coordinator of WG No.3, “Laser technologies and techniques in industry”, on March 17, 2015 heldameetingofresearchandpracticalconference“Laser technologies and techniques in industry”, where over 80 representatives took part from 41 institutions, including 53 reps from 19 companies-members of WG No.3.

During the conference lectures and reports were presented by representatives from research institutions, educational institutes, manufacturers of optic and laser equipment, business representatives, on latest technologies and developments in application and implementation of laser technologies in the industry.

The meeting was held in a business atmosphere. 9 actual reports were made during the scheduled 180 minutes.

The vital issue, raised by the participants, was manufacturing of competitive in digenous optical components and laser heads for replacement of import in Russian Federation, which is necessary to resolve a wide number of issues in respect of laser metal processing, including here: laser and hybrid laser-arc welding, cutting, building-up, prototyping and labeling.

Another issue, widely discussed during the congress, was training of personnel and requirement of graduates and young specialists for the industry. As per the results of studies, conducted in 2014, only 10 to 15% of graduates in laser technologies are working in their specialties.

At the sametime the laser industrial sector suffers from lack of both qualified engineers and operators of laser machines. Toresolve this problem, it was decided to jointly define trades, related to photonics, which will be subject for certification and elaborate proposals to include them into a list of educational programs.
