For the first time during recent 15 years, a construction of small fishing refrigerating trawler (project 21060) will begin. The vessel was designed by DB Vostok, a division of the CRIST.

Apart from the fact, that this is after long time the first vessel, designed by earlier the leading and by now the only design bureau in the country, working in fishing shipbuilding sector, the new vessel will have a number of advantages, so far not available for such class of ships:

Capability for fishing both in coastal waters and in remote;
Delivery of products both in frozen and chilled (fresh) form;
Freezing productivity of 20 tons per day, for the first time achieved for a vessel of 30 m long;
High power generation, providing effective performance of fishing operations, processing, freezing and storage of products, high reliability of power supply along with reasonable economy of power plant;
High grade of automation in control of production processes, based on modern microprocessor equipment;
Various modifications of the vessel with the same hull and power plant (crab catching vessel, long-liner, etc.);
High economical efficiency of the vessel.

Due to recognized advantages of project 210600 vessels, the customer for the pilot ship and four serial vessels (holding company OPT-Ryba, Arkhangelsk) is currently negotiating with JS Finance-Leasing construction and leasing of the pilot vessel, for which catching quotas are already approved. Availability of quotas will ensure return of the credit. In parallel, the customer is searching quotas for next four vessels, but in spite of support of this initiative by Representation of the President in North-West Region, Russian Government still does not have correct understanding of importance of these efforts.

The yard, where project 21060 vessels will be constructed – JS Leningrad Shipyard Pella – is now preparing the facilities for production, and the pilot vessel is to be laid as soon as in April 2005 and delivered by the beginning of navigation season in 2006.
