Submission, reviewing and publishing procedure for research articles in “Sudostroenie” magazine

1. Manuscripts to be submitted to the publisher in hard and soft copy. 

2. Apart from body text, the following data in English and Russian language must be provided:
• Name of manuscript;
• Full name of the author/authors (no more than 3);
• Academic degree, academic rank, honorary rank (if any);
• Position and place of employment;
• Contact information available for free access (for each author: e-mail, city and country of residence), and telephone numbers for contacting the publisher;  
• Abstract (at least 100 works) must reveal actuality, methods, results and research prospects of the issue;
• Keywords (or phrases) in maximum quantity of 6 should be brief and reflect content and specific features of the manuscript;
• List of references. 

3. By providing the personal data, the author agrees with processing and storage thereof.

4. The text font (including bottom notes and comments) must be set as Times New Roman. Interval – 1,5 (one and a half); full justification w/o syllabifications; indention – 1,25 cm. As for soft copy, one must use font size “14” for body text and “10” for footnotes and comments.

5. Figures, tables and diagrams should be numbered and integrated into the file vide symbolic editor or Word editor and linked to the body text, e.g.: (fig. 4), (table 3).

6. All abbreviations must be expanded when used in body text for the first time.

7. Minimum size of the manuscript – 0,25 of the signature (10000 symbols); maximum volume of the manuscript - 0,5 of the signature (20000 symbols). 

8. The publisher shall not return the received manuscripts to the authors.

9. The manuscript submitted to the publisher must be accompanied with external review(s) and extraction from minutes of meeting of department, academic board (scientific and technical council) of the organization where the author is studying/working which would certify the feasibility of open publishing of the manuscript. The above documents must be certified with original (blue) stamp of the organization where the reviewer is working. The publisher reserves the right to submit the manuscript for additional review regardless of availability of the external review(s).

10. “Sudostroenie” magazine publishes articles which have neither been published before nor will be simultaneously published in other magazines. The authors of the article are responsible for the content and mere fact of publishing. The publisher may disagree with the opinion of the authors and bears no responsibility for unreliability of published materials.

Editorial staff of “Sudostroenie” magazine adopts the following review procedure for manuscripts of research articles:
1. Upon receipt of manuscript of research article, the primary expertise will be conducted to verify that the article correlates with profile, regulations and requirements of the publisher.

2. Should the research article comply with magazine profile, regulations and requirements, it will be submitted for review to one or several (if required) reviewers for expert check. Otherwise, the article will be rejected with no further reviewing.

3.  Manuscripts of research articles can be reviewed both by members of editorial staff and high-qualified members of other organizations being acknowledged specialists in the related area and having reviewed publications on the topic of the article within past three years.   

4.  Absence of interest conflict between the reviewer and the author is mandatory. The following categories of people cannot be involved in reviewing: 
• Employers of the company affiliated with the author;
• Apprentices and research supervisors of the author;
Should conflict of interests arise, the reviewer must inform the editorial staff about the same and decline the review.  

5.  Review preparation time to be agreed with the reviewer but cannot exceed four weeks.

6.  The publisher shall inform the reviewers that article manuscript is the property of author and shall not be disclosed. The review is to be written confidentially. Violation of confidentiality can only take place if the reviewer shall declare unreliability or falsification of the information given in the article. The reviewers are prohibited from making copies of the articles for their own needs.

7. The publisher reserves the right to conduct additional reviewing if required.   

8. The submitted review of manuscript of research article must reveal topicality of content, research novelty rate and define correlation between the article and common profile of the publisher.

9. Should the reviewer have observations to the article, the same will be forwarded to the author for correction. Maximum allowed period for correction – 4 weeks. Should the author fail to submit the article in time, the publisher will consider that the article was re-submitted.  

10. The author must complement the corrected manuscript with responses towards given observations including explanation of all introduced changes. In case of significant volume of corrections, the article shall be submitted to the same reviewer who made related observations.  

11. The publisher reserves the right to reject manuscripts of research articles should the author refuse/fail to consider recommendations of the reviewer.

12. The original copies of manuscripts shall be stored in editorial office of the magazine within 5 years and can be submitted to Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation upon request.
