Starshynov V. A. The world’s first nuclear powered icebreaker «Lenin» The author narrates about designing, building and operation of the world’s first nuclear powered icebreaker «Lenin» and represents its drawings and technical data.

Abramovsky V. A. Influence of above-the-waves wind velocity field structure on the dynamics of seagoing objects The article shows the solution results of some problems on dynamics of seagoing and flying objects in conditions of the mutual influence of turbulent wind and irregular waves. These solutions are based on wind-wave disturbances’ mathematical model developed on the basis of hydrodynamic investigations of surface atmosphere structure and dynamic interaction of wind and waves close to the area of two media separation.

Artyushyna T. G. Creation of a ship model as a complicated multilevel system on the basis of fuzzy-set theory The author analyzes multilevel mathematical model of ship designing and presents the results of its optimization that prove possible application of fuzzy sets in order to coordinate the results of particular optimization problems.

Improvement of technical-and-economic characteristics of marine diesels due to improvement of supercharging air systems Examined in the article are some versions of supercharging air temperature control systems using modern microelectronic means, their advantages and disadvantages.

Gas-dynamic properties of sets of nozzles with small angles of flow exit being a part of low-rate axial-flow turbineAnalyzed is possible application of sets of nozzles having structural flow exit angles less than 9 degrees with the object of increase of axial-flow low-rate turbines’ efficiency. The authors examine the influence of a series of geometrical and mode factors on nozzles properties and present conclusions based on analyses of mathematical model developed as a consequence of experimental research.

About СТВР and АКСС dampers (a letter to the editor’s) The authors note fundamental inaccuracies found in the article «Using of spiral cable vibration isolators for equipping marine objects» by E. G. Berestovitsky etc. published in «Sudostroenie» magazine (2008, No. 5, pp. 42–43). The abovementioned inaccuracies misinform the designers of marine damping fasteners of equipment. The authors propose a way of inaccuracies elimination.

Sakhno K. N. Scientific foundations of marine pipeline systems designing The author examines the problems of pipelines’ designing, manufacturing and assembly and presents the results of investigations related to scientific grounds of engineering approach of marine pipeline systems designing. The results of the development can be used when designing pipeline routes regardless of their functionality.

Demurin A. S. Quality control of composites for machine elements Analyzed in the article are composites for belt conveyer idlers. Examined are methods of their overhaul period increase.
