CRISM «PROMETEY» – 70 YEARS OLD

Oryschenko A. S. Central Research Institute of Structural Materials «Prometey» is 70 years old The article describes the way mastered by the institute from a laboratory at Izhorsky zavod plant to the largest multi-specialized materials-research centre of the country. Also reviewed are all the directions of CRISM «Prometey» activities as well as its new projects.

Gorynin I. V. Structural steels for shipbuilding The author reviews the creation of new cold resistant weld steels and the development of their production by Russian metallurgical plants. Modern low-magnetic shipbuilding steel/V. A. Malyshevsky, V. V. Tsukanov, G. Yu. Kalinin, O. V. Fomina Analyzed are developed by CRISM «Prometey» new low-magnetic shipbuilding steel qualities.

Titanium alloys in marine technique The authors narrate about the role of CRISM «Prometey» in creation of metallurgic production of titanium, about the unique properties of titanium and its alloys and about its maritime, offshore and heat power engineering application.

Sudareva N. G., Smyslova L. A. Heat-insulating and structural-finishing materials for shipbuilding The article represents a wide scope of heat-insulating fire-safe non-toxic environment-oriented structural-finishing materials meeting all the requirements of shipbuilding industry and not yielding to international analogues. The materials were developed by CRISM «Prometey» in common with enterprises of related branches of industry.

Materials required for tanks of ships carrying LNG Analyzed in the article is a question whether it is necessary to build LNG-carriers in Russia and to use domestic materials tor their building.

Pashkov A. P. About paradigm of civil shipbuilding The author proposes to discuss possible ways of shipbuilding development at present and particularly the suggestions contained in the article of G. V. Egorov (Sudostroeniye, 2009, No. 1) about the experience of creation of large series of «Liberty»-type ships.

Gorbachov Yu. N. Some new tendencies in designing cargo ships for limited navigation area Analyzed is the expediency of increase in cargo ships’ fullness coefficient up to super-high values (0.9-0.92) for the ships with limited sailing areas. The author shows as well the advantages and disadvantages of such coefficient increase.

Kriventsov A. N., Shestakov S. A., Trokhimchuk M. V. Non-selfpropelled dumping barge of new generation The authors examine a project of non-selfpropelled dumping barge that can be used during underwater work. Simplicity of the structure as well as possible high-speed unloading are mentioned.

Nesterov N. M. Formation of roughness on underwater part of atomic icebreaker’s hull The author analyzes peculiar features of atomic icebreaker underwater hull’s corrosion during operation in thick Arctic ice. Also examined are mechanism of roughness formation and its role during icebreaker’s operation in Arctic.

Platonov A. V. Artillery armament of post-war projects heavy cruisers (pr. 82 and 66) The author narrates about designing of pr. 82 and 66 Soviet cruisers in post-war period and represents characteristics of artillery armament.

SHIPBOARD POWER PLANTS

Timofeyev V. N. Enhancement of marine diesel fuel efficiency by means of cooling system temperature control Analyzed is one of the most prospective ways to increase marine diesel efficiency by means of efficient control of its temperature condition. A new diesel cooling scheme is presented providing for two systems: open and closed. Depending on diesel loading the inner contour can be switched over from open to closed system and vice versa. The proposed cooling system allows to maintain optimum temperature of cooling liquid and to reduce fuel consumption significantly.

Sakhno K. N. Development of shipbuilding preproduction system using software tools Shipbuilding preproduction system with the help of software tools is examined. Laid in the system are principles of professional responsibility of each executor and independency of information databases to be created. Kondratenko R. V. Missile raft of admiral Chistyakov The article represents a story of designing and building of a missile raft in the first half of the 19th century, the raft being a component part of Baltic ports defence, developed by major-general K. A. Shilder.

 Yarovoy V. V. Steam yacht «Livadiya» The author describes designing and building of a steam yacht «Livadiya» in Nikovaev at the end of the 19th century and tells us about her Black Sea cruises and participation in The Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878.

 Ivanov I. V. Lieutenant-general M. N. Greenwald The author narrates about the life of one of the last Directors of Shipbuilding Department, eminent domestic shipbuilder and scientist, lieutenant-general of Corps of Naval Architects M. N. Greenwald.
