Kryukov, K. V. Slatin The authors analyze topical problems of development and modernizing inland and combined river-sea going vessels in Russian Federation and its regions. Represented are structural layouts of pushed-type river-sea vessels being built and designed.

A. Influence of optimization of design elements on correlation of ships to their transport systems in the framework of conceptual designing The authors set the problem of evaluation the influence of optimization when correlating the ships to their transport systems on the stage of investigative or conceptual designing. On the basis of the developed multifactor correlation methodology the examples are given that show the influence of optimization of the most important design elements of combined (barge-and-tug and pontoon) and conventional vessels on correlation by the criterion of economic efficiency. The conclusion should be made that, when investigating on such a level, the optimization of design elements makes sense only if it is carried out by some essential distinctive features of correlated ships’ design concept gist.

Development of multifunctional diesel arctic icebreakers appearance is a modern paradigm of their designing The article proposes a modern approach to the development of diesel arctic multifunctional icebreakers appearance. Represented is twin-shaft diesel plant with controllable pitch propeller in conjunction with active rudder. A scheme of general lay-out is developed, a new architecture is proposed. Cargo hold for transportation of technological freight to ice-resistant platform is provided for.

Antonov A. M. Conceptual problems of design ensuring submariners’ rescue Analyzed are the problems of design ensuring submariners’ rescue. The problems appeared when creating submarines of the 4th generation. Analyzed are the influence of intercompartment bulkhead strength requirements on submarines’ shipbuilding and performance elements, the efficiency of settled on bottom wrecked submarine compartments ventilation with an air fed from a rescue vessel as well as of exit by means of flooding a compartment Proposed are principles of submariners rescue design ensuring.

Electric generating plants of contemporary and advanced LNG tankers Disclosed are various types of contemporary and advanced electric generating plants of gas-carrying tankers and their brief comparative analysis. The conclusion is that the most prospective one is high-voltage united electric generating plant on the basis of a system of electric propulsion with dual-fuel prime engines.

Peculiarities of hydrodynamic noise dampers application on ships The experience of testing and operation of low-frequency jet hydrodynamic noise dampers for home-built ships is summarized. Their design features are examined and the efficiency of their work is evaluated. The proposals of optimum use of such dampers on ships are formulated.

Fershalov Yu. Ya., Fershalov A. Yu. Nozzle cascade of axial low-consumption turbine Examined in the article are the questions of increase in nozzle cascade efficiency of axial low-consumption turbines. Nozzle cascade with new configuration of nozzles was proposed and successfully tested. Test results confirmed their high efficiency.

Gerasimov N. I., Teplyashyn M. V. Main trends of shipbuilding development in Russia The article represents a concept of reforming shipbuilding in Russian Federation. The authors propose to create in shipbuilding regions the so called «sheer» shipyards dealing only with assembly of vessels from delivered assembly units. All delivered articles are manufactured in regional centers situated in immediate vicinity of the yards. The authors describe the experience of foreign marine technique building as well as the examples of equipping the yards with some types of cranes and conveyers.
