CIVIL SHIPBUILDING

Tryaskin V. N. Methodological basics of computer-aided parametric ship structural design
Methodological basics are given of computer-aided ship structural design process: decomposition of initial design complicated problems; software simulation as one of the main methods of solution these problems; iterative sequence of computer-aided design problems solution. A concept of «computer-aided parametric structural design» has been introduced. The above methodology implementation principles are shown in the research and developments performed for software support of the SPbGMTU Ship Structure Department.

Yegorov G. V., Alekperov R. A., Tonyuk V. I. «Caspian Express»-class 3750 dwt multipurpose dry-cargo ship
The authors describe the construction and distinctive features of ship project 003RSD04 intended for operation between Ukraine and Russia estuary ports and ports of Europe, as well as in inland waterways.

Khaustov A. N. Railroad car ferries for Caspian Sea
A description is given of the Croatian Uljanik Shipyard-built ferry «Makhachkala 1» intended for oil and mineral oil transportation for Caspian Sea.

NAVAL SHIPBUILDING

Aframeiev E. A. Program development of domestic large-size catamarans with aerostatic unloading
Organization of work and results of program execution for constructing the «Syvuch»-class ship, as well as technical project «Tur» and technical offer «Bizon» have been described.

Kotov M. V. Two modernizations of destroyer «Lovkiy»
The author tells of modernization of destroyer «Lovkiy» (former Italian «Artiglliere») in the USSR Navy and its conversion into AOWC (aerial observation, warning and communication) ship.

SHIP POWER PLANTS

Naumov V. V., Sychikov V. I. Advanced power plants for icebreakers
Analysis is given of nuclear energy plants (NEP) for nuclear icebreakers, combat ships and submarines to provide power supply for arctic, offshore mineral deposits in the North Sea route area. It is shown that such plant can be a unified integral NEP with a lead-water fast coolant, differing from the existing plants by its radiation safety, compactness and maneuverability.

Koroliev V. I., Lastovtsev A. Yu. Prospects for utilization of power reactors with lead-bismuth coolant on nuclear icebreakers
An opinion was expressed that the pressurized water-moderated reactors have spent their improvement potential and it is necessary to seek new (or return to old forgotten) nuclear power technologies. In the USSR there were built 8 nuclear submarines with liquid-metal coolant which is an entectic alloy melt that is a lead-bismuth. An experience in operation of such reactors totals 80 reactors-years. The main consuming properties of the above reactors applying to nuclear icebreakers are nuclear and radiation safety, maneuverability and efficiency. These properties are compared with the ship pressurized water-moderated reactors.

Minasyan M. A., Medvediev V. V. Reduction of diesel-generator and ship structures vibration due to putty coatings damping
The results of damping for ship diesel-generators and engine bed of diesel-generator ДГ 5AL 35/30 on motor ship «Fiedor Bredikhin» have been analyzed. A possibility to employ a new method is shown for calculation of dynamically connected structures with high damping in multi-support excitation conditions for vibration and noise level calculations.

Yepifanov P.A., Karpova I. E., Patrakov Yu. M. Carbon-black content in burnt gases of power plants and methods of its control and reduction
Statistical information is provided of carbon-black particles content in burnt gases of various ship power plant types. The possible methods and equipment are described for measurement of carbon-black content in gas flows, as well as the up-dated types of foreign and domestic instrumentation. The means of reducing the carbon-black content have been considered, including soot collectors, fuel additives, use of water-fuel emulsion etc.

Loboda B. N., Belov L.V., Kaverzniev A. N., Gitelman A. I., Khasov I. N., Ogniev V. V., Pildish V. G., Solonin V. I. Compact turbine-compressor plants of dual use
Distinctive features of constructing serial turbine-compressor plants for power units of ships, icebreakers, as well as for utilization of the same in the systems of civilian use have been considered.

Solonin V. I. Developments of TSIAM on effectiveness increase of surface and ship gas-turbine plants
Review of the main aircraft manufacturing facility’s achievements in the development of air-injection turbojet engines for aviation, gas-compressor units, merchant ships and naval vessels.

ECONOMICS AND FINANCE

Sokolov S. A., Novokhatskiy V. A. Investment design of ship’s life cycle
The problems concerned with the employment of investment design methods for articles of government defense order are considered by the example of shipbuilding. A project model based on the set theory has been developed.

SHIPBUILDING ORGANIZATION AND TECHNOLOGY

Vasiliev A. A. Machine welding efficiency increase
Review of the world leading firms’ developments in the machine welding efficiency increase demonstrated at exhibition «Welding and cutting 2005» held in Essen, Germany.
