AT THE SHIPYARDS

SHIP DESIGN

Terin Yu. V., Shatalov V. V.
A 4500 dwt universal dry cargo motorship
A description is given of a 4500 dwt universal dry cargo motorship designed by JSC "Vympel" (des. 00221). The ship is being built in Astrakhan by JSC "Morskoi Sudostroitelny Zavod" with participation of JSC "Sudostroitelny Zavod "Lotos".

Kobsev V. V., Nefedovich A. V.
Ergonomic support of the design of promising ships
The authors consider the problems of the design of promising ships on the basis of developing a draft list of their crews' activities in standard combat missions.

Dubrovsky V. A.
The new bow bulb as a tool for improving propulsion qualities and seaworthiness of fast ferries
It is shown that application of a bow bulb provides a reduction of towrope resistance and forward end accelerations in head-sea which results in a considerable increase of ship's speed at prescribed rates of seaworthiness. General relationships of wave resistance versus bulb dimensions and location have been established by computations. Experiments were carried out on models with conventional forms for bulbs with 15 and 10% of hull displacement.

Startsev S. B.
The influence of a non-uniform hydrodynamic flow on dy-namic torque loads acting on ship's hydrofoil structures
The author presents results of an investigation conducted in Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute on a mathematical vortex model of a finitespan wing of random form in plan view. The model is designed for calculation of dynamic torque loads acting on ship's hydrofoil structures in distorted velocity fields of incoming flow. The method developed and PC computational programs permit to predict hydrodynamic characteris-tics of hydrofoil structures operating in non-uniform flows.

Argatov I. I.
On the analysis of a stack of lashed containers as a mechanical system with one-way connections
The paper deals with problem statement for an analysis of a stack of lashed containers with one-way connections. According to the work method, the analysis comes down to a problem of a minimal additional work on a plurality of non-negative reactions. A prob-lem solving is presented for an equivalent connection with doubled lashings attached to one nodal point. An error is discussed which is introduced into the solution as a result of simplified calculations.

Shostok V. P. Consideration of seaworthiness in the choice of structural elements of a research ship
Potential use of an increased hull breadth (L/B<5.5) to improve seaworthiness of a research ship is considered. The need to take account of seaworthiness in the design of ships to navigate in a seaway is validated.

NAVAL SHIPBUILDING

Yaroshenko A. V.
The problems of application of mathematical description algorithms of technological interrelationship between ship systems and machinery
The paper shows how on the basis of a single mathematical description of all interconnected ship systems and machinery two algorithms have been developed: that of automatic fault finding in the ship's technical facilities structure and that of a personnel trainer for damage control of weapons and technical facilities after a random combination of damages to their elements.

Antipov V. V., Zakharov I. G., Koslov V. M., Travin S. Ya.
Technical condition monitoring of ship technical facilities in service conditions
Deteriorating processes are analysed which lead to depletion of performance margin of ship technical facilities components. Comprehensive statistical data on bench test results for respective components are presented, as well as algorithms for analysis and prediction of their technical condition with determination of residual service life by indicating structural and diagnostic parameters.

Trapesnikov Yu. M.
The development of shipboard floodability programs for submarines
The author traces back to the establishment and development of computer programs for calculation of surface-condition floodability of submarines immediately aboard ship. For the first time the paper narrates about authors of such programs and their innovative solutions.

SHIPBOARD POWER PLANTS

Petrov E. L.
On the importance of shipbuilding technologies for providing competitiveness of underground nuclear power stations
The paper deals with problems of the choice of a shipboard reactor for underground nuclear power station in terms of profitableness, manufacturing labour costs and trans-portability. It is shown that capital outlay is minimal where shipboard water-cooled and water-moderated reactors are used for this purpose.

MARINE ELECTRICAL AND RADIO EQUIPMENT

Butylin V. M., Lelin A. N.
Special-purpose load-carrying structure to improve weight-dimensional characteristics of electronic components
A two-frame load-carrying structure of 3rd level is proposed to be used for building-in frameless plug-in electronic modules used in products of marine instrument-making industry.

S. A. Lukin, K.V. Nedyalkov, E. B. Tikhonovich
Automatic control of electric generating plant of environment-protection patrol boat "Rossia"
The authors highlight design principles of the automatic control system of electric power plant of environment-protection patrol catamaran-ship "Rossia"

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND ECONOMICS

Ikonnikov A. F.
Cost evaluation of sea-going ships with a consideration of new technical requirements
The paper deals with a new evaluation procedure for ship cost and performance-economic indicators of cargo carriage by sea-going merchant ships. The basic indicator of cost evaluation is payload of a ship-analog, as well as principal dimensions, techni-cal characteristics and structural features of the compared ships.

Ovchinnikov I. D.
Piece wage optimisation
The author considers a possibility of increasing piece wage by having work orders con-tinuously made out at workstations with short manufacturing processes, i.e. a multiline work order which is called "a personal account of work completed". Such a motivation for labour helps to do away completely with time losses during a working shift.

Vlasov M. P., Kuperstein V. I., Rogosin V. A.
Modern trends in ship pro-duction management
The authors offer a new approach to effective management system for projects and production resources. The problems of improved management of ship production in modern conditions are considered. Objectives and prerequisites of improved management are formulated.

Environment-friendly powder paints for shipbuilding
An outlook for the use of polymeric powder materials at the turn of the 21st century is analysed and methods of application of polymeric powder coatings with the use of modern equipment are described.
