AT THE SHIPYARDS

SHIP DESIGN

Ardashev B. P., Kruglov V. N. Domestic designs of cable-laying ships with ice-strengthened hull.
The paper gives a brief description of concept designs of domestic cable-laying ships of 1100 and 4300 t dwt. The ships cable-laying equipment is considered.

Ponomarev A. V., Savodnikov Yu. M., Mavlyndov M. A. Application of separated flow mechanism in shipbuilding.
The authors propose technical solutions to improve propulsive performance and sea-going qualities, of various types of fast ships, enhance hydrodynamic performance of cavitating propellers, develop a new type of pump-jet propulsion unit, as well as the use of spoilers to improve hydrofoil performance in separated flow conditions.

Suslov A. N., Odegova O. V. On the need to create in Russia a committee on data structuring for ship electronic model.
The author gives grounds for a need to create a special committee for structuring and standardization of data connected with ship design and operation on the basis of through design technology (CALS).

NAVAL SHIPBUILDING

Vasilyev A. M., Kozhevnikov A. N. Command ships.
The paper describes domestic command ships used to control sea combat operation and created on the basis of light cruisers "Dzerzhinsky" type 707, "Zhdanov" type 68 bis and "Admiral Senyavin". The track history of their development is detailed and main data on the ship "Borey" type 968 arc given.

SHIPBOARD SYSTEMS AND AUXILIARIES

Kovalc huk L. I., Simanovich A.I. Principles and algorithms of constructing in-variant standards for functional diagnosis of marine diesel engines.
The authors consider algorithms of constructing and practical application of invariant standards for functional diagnosis of main marine diesel engines for ships of various types and designations.

Cherkashin A. S. Statistical characteristics of coolant leakage from shipboard refrigeration system.
The paper gives an analysis of losses of ozone-containing coolants R12 and R22 from shipboard refrigeration plants. Investigated are statistical characteristics of coolant leakage from shipboard refrigeration systems in service conditions. A probabilistic loss calculation method is given.

Krasnovidov V. A., Poretsky V. V. Russian marine fans.
Joint stock company "Moven" has mastered production of marine fans to Lloyd's Register standards for marine products.

Vetokhin V. I. Journal-thrust cermet roller bearings for deep-submergence vehicles.
The author describes a new class of journal-thrust roller bearings which can operate in sea water at any depth.

MARINE ELECTRICAL AND RADIO EQUIPMENT

Kormilitsin Yu. N., Nikiforov B. V., Shishkin D. Yu. Development of full electric propulsion system of diesel-electric submarines.
The paper highlights features of electric propulsion systems used in diesel-electric submarines designed by design bureau "Rubin" and constructed within the last three decades in the 70 - 90 s.

Dmitriev B.V., Kireev Yu. N., Gavrilov I. V. Comparative analysis of the two-stage alternating-contrast voltage converters.
A comparative analysis is given for two-stage multiple-commutation converters and two-stage voltage-current controlled rectifiers at input-output resistive and resistive-inductive loads.

MARINE INSTRUMENTS

Timofeev A. N., Tetyuev B. A. Application of "black box" type devices on sea-going transport ships.
The paper presents IMO requirements to automatic marine system for acquisition, re-cording and storage of voyage data ("black box") and design versions of such systems developed abroad.

Klyachko L. M. Service results for an experimental prototype of automated ship traffic control system.

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND ECONOMICS

Gorbachev S. A., Dogadin A. V., Korablev A. V., Sokolov V. F. Organizational and technological ways of reducing overhead costs of ship construction.
The authors give an analysis of expenditures and cost structure for domestic ship-building products and consider objective and subjective reasons of unprofitable ship construction. They propose measures to improve organizational and technological aspects of ship production.

SHIPBUILDING AND MARINE ENGINEERING TECHNIOVES

Kusavkov V. M., Rosinov A. Ya., Rydlovsky V. P., Utkin V. E. Tightness tests of hull structural welded joints with the use of vacuum chambers.
Limitations of conventional tightness tests and the physical nature of such tests with the use of vacuum chambers are considered. Comparative data are given for the detection of through defects by conventional test methods and those with the use of vacuum chambers. The design and technical characteristics of the vacuum chambers developed by CRIST are described and data on the efficiency of their application are given.
